What is the ECS?
The Endocannabinoid System is a naturally occurring communication network that plays a role in many physiological processes. Currently, this system has been found to be implicated in gastrointestinal (GI) function, appetite and metabolism, pain, memory, movement, immunity, and inflammation.
The Endocannabinoid System is comprised of two cannabinoid receptors: CB1 and CB2. CB1 is concentrated in the central and peripheral nervous systems (brain and spine), while CB2 is more abundant in the immune system.
CBD and other phytocannabinoids produce their biological effects through their interactions with these cannabinoid receptors.
